Sexual misconduct

Sanctions against barristers for sexual misconduct fall within the current sanctions guidance, the Bar Tribunals Adjudication Service and the Bar Standards Board said. In a joint statement, they said the guidance covers the whole range of professional misconduct but is under review. Proposals from that review will be published and subject to consultation with a view to updated guidance in place in the summer, they added. The statement comes after a barrister was suspended for three months for touching two individuals sexually without consent.
